English Language Requirement
It’s a requirement of the SIA, Ofqual and Awarding Organisations that learners who take this course have a basic knowledge of the English language which includes the ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. It is ‘very’ important that you are able to read, write and communicate effectively in the English language for the following reasons:
1. All assessments are conducted in the English.
2. As part of the course requirements, on day 1 of the course you are required to complete a (pass/fail) hand written incident report based on an example situation provided by your course tutor.
3. As part of the videoed practical assessments, you must demonstrate your ability to verbally communicate in English.
Fitness to Participate
If you’re in any doubt regarding your fitness to participate, please seek appropriate medical advice from your GP prior to attending. If you have an existing medical condition or are currently taking prescribed medication, please also seek appropriate medical advice before attending.
Do not put yourself or others at risk!
On arrival for training, you’ll be required to bring the Tutor’s attention to any health related condition that could put yourself or others at risk during training. You will also need to complete a ‘Declaration of Fitness’. Please be aware that our tutors are not medically qualified and will not take risks; this may result in you not being able to commence training.

First Aid Certificate Requirement
Applicants attending this course must hold a valid First Aid Qualification or Emergency First Aid certificate that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This is a requirement of the SIA. The certificate must be valid for at least 12 months from your course start date.
If you meet this requirement, please email us a copy of your certificate at the time of your booking.
If you DO NOT meet this requirement, please make sure you include the HABC Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification that we optionally provide as part of the course (cost: £79). To include the EFAW course, simply add it to your booking when offered during the course booking process.
The HABC Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification is delivered partly by ‘self-study’ and partly ‘face to face’ by a course tutor. Where required, when including the EFAW as part of your course booking, you will be sent login details and instructions on how to access your ‘self-study’ learning materials. The ‘self-study’ unit takes approx. 2 hours to complete, and is completed ‘by you’ BEFORE attending the ‘face to face portion of your course.
On completion of your ‘self-study’, you will be provided with an electronic certificate confirming completion. This certificate evidences completion of the unit and must be provided to us before the face to face part of your course starts, or, be brought with you on day 1 of the ‘face to face’ part of your course.
PLEASE NOTE: Failure to complete your ‘self-study’ will result in you being turned away from the face to face classroom part of your course, and you will forfeit your course purchasing fee. This is due to the arrangement costs being incurred our end when you make your booking, so PLEASE ensure this is completed ‘BEFORE‘ classroom attendance.
Note: The EFAW pre=course learning cannot be completed on a smart phone or tablet and must be completed on either a laptop or a PC.
EFAW Assessment is conducted in the classroom using a practical demonstration and 10 question multiple-choice theory test.
