The following Terms and Conditions are provided for your information. Please read the sections carefully, and if you have any questions, queries, or anything isn’t clear, please contact us ‘before’ agreeing to them and continuing. These terms and conditions and your agreement to them form a legally binding contractual agreement between yourself and SfJ Ltd. Thank you.
COURSE BOOKING TERMS AND CONDITIONS: (APPLICABLE TO):
- SIA Level 2 Award in Door Supervision Course Bookings
- SIA Level 2 Award in Door Supervision (Top-Up) Course Bookings
- SIA Level 2 Award for CCTV Operators Course Bookings
- SIA Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection Course Bookings
Applicants for the Door Supervision course must hold a First Aid Qualification
In order to attend the course you must hold a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. The certificate must be valid for at least 12 months from your course start date.
If you book the course without an acceptable First Aid certificate and do not wish to take the First Aid course as part of your booking, you will not be permitted to take the course and depending on the notice provided (see below “Rescheduling your course”) will be charged an administration fee to rebook.
Due to SIA requirements relating to forms of ‘acceptable Identification’. It is ‘your’ responsibility to ensure that you have the correct identification ‘before‘ booking on the course. Failure to provide this identification will result in you not being able to take part and complete the course or apply to the SIA for your licence. A list of acceptable identification is provided to you within the ‘pre-booking information’ section of your course.
Insufficient ID brought to the course
If you do not bring the Required Identification talked about above, AND a passport style photo to the offline portion of your course, you will need to be rescheduled onto another course. You will not be eligible for a refund if you fail to provide the correct ID as your place could have been taken by someone else and as you will require a seat on another course, your new booking will be charged at full price. Therefore, if you are unable to provide the required identification, then please contact us prior to booking your course on (01202) 978466
English Language Requirement
It is a requirement of the SIA, Ofqual and SIA training Awarding Organisations that learners who take the course have a basic knowledge of the English language which includes the ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
It is ‘very’ important that you are able to read, write and communicate effectively in the English language for the following reasons:
1. All assessments are conducted in the medium of English.
2. As part of the course requirements, on day 1 of the course you are required to complete a (pass/fail) hand written evidential statement based on an example situation provided by your course tutor.
3. As part of the videoed practical assessments, you must demonstrate your ability to verbally communicate in English.
You are required to complete (and pass) a basic English test on the first day of your course.
The classroom element of your course requires this be tested prior to the start of your training. If this (or the S9 statement) criterion is not met you will not be allowed to continue with the course. If this happens you will be refunded 50% of your booking cost only. The reason you will not receive a full refund is because:
- Your place could have been allocated to somebody else.
- We have provided a basic literacy test and an example of the S9 statement within the ‘pre-booking information’ of your course that is very similar to the one you need to pass on the first day of the classroom based portion of your course. Please study this example to ensure your English literacy level meets the minimum entry requirements before booking your place.

Pre-Course Learning Assignments
Your SIA course includes some pre-course online elearning which is mandatory, meaning IT MUST BE COMPLETED. If you do not complete the online pre-course elearning before attending the offline classroom based portion of your course, you may fail the relevant exam units to which they apply. Instructions for accessing the pre-course online elearning will be emailed to you upon receipt of your booking and payment. It is your responsibility to ensure you contact Skills For Jobs to tell us if you have not received the instructions for accessing pre-course online elearning within 24hrs of placing your booking order.
Delegate and Course Suitability
It is your responsibility to ensure the course on which you are booking is suitable for your individual requirements. You should read and understand the course outline provided in the pre-booking information for your course and ensure you can meet the minimum entry requirements. If you do not or cannot meet the minimum entry requirements, you may be asked to leave the course on which you have booked. This decision may be made by the course trainer without bias and at their own discretion.

Bookings are accepted at any time up to the course start date, subject to availability. SfJ Ltd reserves the right to refuse admittance to any delegate for whom the course fees have not been paid. Course fees are only considered paid once a delegate has made a booking for a specific SfJ Ltd training course, and both payment confirmation and joining instruction emails have been sent by SfJ Ltd to the email address provided by you at the time of booking.
If you need to cancel or amend your course booking
SfJ Ltd works with accordance to the Consumer Rights Act (2015) and operate the following refund policies in respect of the cancellation of individual course bookings:
Rescheduling your course
In the 1st instance, if you are unable to attend your course on the scheduled course booking date, you must notify SfJ Ltd at least 14 days prior to the course start date/time. SfJ Ltd will agree to reschedule your course to an alternative date within 6 months from the date of your original booking. This will be held at the original location and subject to availability. Please note: There is a £90 administration fee to transfer your course under these circumstances. If you are within 7 to 14-day period there is a £150 administration fee to transfer your course. You cannot reschedule your course booking within 7 working days of the original course booking start date/time, and if you cannot attend, you will not be eligible for a refund.
Lateness or Non-attendance
If you are going to be late to the course on which you have booked, you must contact SfJ Ltd immediately. If you a going to be substantially late to the course (i.e. more than 30 min on the first day, or any other day), and in addition, if you are more than 20 minutes late returning from break on more than 1 occasion, you will not meet the SIA minimum required contact hours for the course, and you will have to be rescheduled onto another course. If this happens, you will not be eligible for a refund.
In the event of non-attendance to the course (or any part of it), where you fail to notify SfJ Ltd in accordance with the above, and payment has been received, you will not be eligible for a refund.
Cancelling your course
If you need to cancel your course, and you course starts in more that 14 days, you will receive a refund minus a £90 administration fee. If you need to cancel your course and your course starts in more than 7 days but than 14 days, you will receive a refund minus £150 administration fee. If you need to cancel your course and your course starts within 7 days, you will not receive a refund. It is your own personal responsibility to ensure that you can meet and/or pass the mandatory identification / English literacy / fitness to participate / course suitability and criminal record requirements of the SIA before booking your place and making payment.
If you have paid a deposit and fail to notify us of your non-attendance in accordance with the above, you will not be eligible to have your course rescheduled. You will not receive reimbursement of your deposit and any outstanding payment amounts for the course booking will remain due in full.
If you have to cancel your course due to a medical reason, we would require evidence i.e. A Doctor’s letter. A handling and administration fee of £120 would be charged or deducted from your order amount when you require a refund due to a medical reason.
Cancellations to courses
In the unlikely event of SfJ Ltd having to reschedule a course for which a booking has been made, SfJ Ltd reserves the right to re-schedule the commencement date of that course and any other. SfJ Ltd will offer you the choice of accepting alternative arrangements, or cancelling your booking and receiving a full refund of the course fees paid. We reserve the right to change the course venue in extreme circumstances to an alternative venue within a 10-mile’ radius of the original venue location. SfJ Ltd does not accept liability for payments made to third parties by or on behalf of delegates (e.g. in respect of travel, accommodation or subsistence), as such, no refunds or claims made against such payments will be entertained.
SfJ Ltd operates a ‘no refund’ and ‘no cancellation’ policy for all discounted courses.
During the booking process you will have been given several options regarding your booking. These are clarified again below for your information.
SAVER: The SAVER booking option is the standard booking type without any bolt-on extras. SAVER includes the following benefits within the price:
– Online eLearning and distance support.
– Course & Exam fees.
– Course Certificates sent electronically.
– £45 for exam unit retakes.
– £90 or £150 rescheduling fee (in accordance with the above SIA Course booking terms and conditions).
For peace of mind, we recommend our Pass+ bolt-on for just £29, which provides you with 3 x theory exam unit retakes without cost. Normal cost of exam retakes are £45 per exam unit. The Pass+ option is made available to purchase against your booking at any time before the end of your course.
NOTE: The Pass+ bolt-on does not cover you for failed practical assessments. This is because we can only assess 12 learners per course and as you will need to retake your practical assessment, this will take a place of a fully paid new booking as we are limited to 12 per course. Therefore, if you need to retake a practical assessment, you will either need to pay full price again to confirm a practical assessment date, or be on the standby list and wait for an available place to come up (i.e. 24 to 48 hours) before an assessment. The charge to be on the standby list and retake a practical assessment (if available) is free.
For people who’s circumstances may change meaning that they can no longer attend the course date that they originally booked. As long as you provide us with (at least) 48 hours notice, you can move your training date to another course (of the same) within a period of 6 months. (NOTE: this can only be used twice). You can also substitute your booking to another person (as long as they meet the entry requirements stipulated above), and as long as you provide us with (at least) 48 hours notice. (NOTE: Only 1 substitution is allowed).
If you are booked and confirmed to attend for an exam resit and you do not provide (at least) 24 hours notice to SfJ Ltd that you cannot attend, you will be required to pay a re-scheduling fee of £45 (irrespective of whether Pass+ was purchased or not, or a payment of £45 (or more) has been made).
If you are booked and confirmed to attend an exam resit and you fail to attend or you attend but fail to bring the required ID and/or photo with you on the day, you will be required to pay a £45 re-scheduling fee (irrespective of whether PASS+ has been purchased, or a payment of £45 (or more) has been made).
The following Terms and Conditions are exclusive to the SIA Approved Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection course.
Rescheduling requests must be submitted in writing and received by SfJ Ltd or our partners ClosePro. Ltd, at least 29 days prior to the course commencing.
Rescheduling your course:
If you are unable to attend on the scheduled course date you must notify us at least 28 days prior to the course start day and we will agree to reschedule your course to an alternative date within 12 months from the date of your original booking. This will be held at the original location and subject to availability. Please note that there is a £150 fee to transfer your course. If you are between a period of 15 to 28 days, the fee to transfer your course is £250. You cannot reschedule your course within a 14-days before the course starting and if you cannot attend, you will not be eligible for a refund.
Cancelling your course:
If you need to cancel your course, you will not receive a refund. It is your own personal responsibility to ensure that you pass the mandatory identification / criminal record requirements before making payment and confirming you place on the course. If you have paid a deposit and fail to notify us of your non-attendance you will not be eligible to have your course rescheduled. You will not receive reimbursement of your deposit and the remaining payment will be due.

In the event of non-attendance to the course (or any part of it), where you fail to notify us in advance of the course starting and payment has been received, you will not be eligible for a refund.
If you fail any of the 3 multiple choice exams, your first exam resit of each unit is free of charge, subsequent resits are charged at £50 per unit. If you fail the final live CP practical assessment, you will need to attend another course to retake this. Your first re-assessment is free of charge, subsequent attempts are charged at £50 per attempt.
